No need to splurge on bright shiny plastic things...

If your baby is bored of their collection of toys, here's a few things you can find around the house that will provide hours of entertainment...

1. Old TV remote controls (or just take a battery out of your existing remote)

2. Old mobile phone - this will work until they spot your working phone again...

3. Spoons - babies love a metal or plastic spoon to chew, hold or bang loudly.

4. Colander or saucepan - give your baby one of these along with a spoon to bang it with and they'll be entertained for hours (well...) - shiny AND loud - win win!

5. Cardboard box - to pick up, hide in, examine for a ridiculously long time, the list is endless...

6. Jar lids - shiny and make a great little drum. (Obviously clean them thoroughly first)

7. Plastic cups - poke a hole in the bottom and use as a fun bath toy. The brighter the better.

8. Food packaging - empty yogurt pots, plastic bottles, biscuit tins, chocolate boxes... anything that is durable and can't be easily ripped apart. With an empty plastic bottle, your baby will probably have fun with just the bottle, but you can make a great rattle by filling it with beads or rice. Or fill with water and sequins and those little eyes will be mesmerised. (Obviously clean them thoroughly first)

9. The washing basket - surely it's always around due to the mountains of laundry babies produce... get them in it and fly them around - giggles galore!
